INTRODUCTION:
Health is regarded as a positive quality of wellbeing, the ability to move in the direction of self-actualization, to take creative risks and trust in yourself. Health is thus an adventure, a state of mind where problems as seen as challenges, symptoms are guides to our life style, and emotions are energies we engage through the act of living1. The language of consumerism is relatively new in the National Health Services, the concept of the patient is an active ‘consumer’ rather than a passive patient has gained much ground over the last couple of decades. The concept of consumerism carries with it the concept of rights. He/she has legal rights, and rights as an individual to choice, self-determination, information and involvement in treatment and care.
So it is necessary to provide better nursing care to improve the quality of patient care. The nursing care provided by nurse is regarded as most important factor in patient assessment of their satisfaction with health care. If patient is satisfied with health care received, this is positive not only for individual but also for nurse and entire health care organization2.
Almost every major health care organization measures certain aspects of client satisfaction. Patient satisfaction is the extent of contentment expressed by the patient in regards to nursing care provided as measured by patient satisfaction rating scale. It therefore reflect the gap between the expected services and the experience of the services, from the patient point of view.
The relationship with a patient is an important part of a meaningful learning process, teaching nursing students about the patient's individualized care and promoting their personal and professional growth, confidence and self-esteem. Patients are willing to participate in students' learning process and they tend to benefit from therapeutic and social interaction with students3.
Satisfaction will help to improve the quality of care. This study will help to provide a discussion about patient satisfaction and nursing care. Recommendations are offered about the changes which are needed to achieve a high level of patient satisfaction that will be help to fulfill research knowledge gap which ultimately contribute to enhance quality of patient services in the hospital.
